About / Artist Statement
One of the most important words in my life is “perspective”. It’s my way of seeing the world, its people, and the interplay between them. And because my perspective is so much more than visual, my photographs say something meaningful.
I have grown to see things with my unique perspective, capture them, refine them, and present them to be enjoyed. Yes, the medium and the technology have changed over the years, but ultimately my photographs still express my insight into the best of what life has to offer.
Photography has always been a part of my life. Even before I held a camera, our living room contained binders of painstakingly assembled family photographs that my father took with his Kodak Brownie Hawkeye. Then one day when I was 11 years old, my Dad handed me the camera. I took a portrait of my parents sitting on the couch, which I still cherish to this day.
It has been a journey ever since.
As a youth, my experiences in developing film in the basement became a reward for spending the day making photographs. Today, I have fully immersed myself in the digital realm of making photographs. The magic of watching a print develop in a tray is now replaced with the magic of post-processing on a computer.
My right- and left-brains have met, as I am a technical professional as well as an artist. I am a degreed electronics engineer; designing circuits and systems as a career. I began working as a technician in a music store in the 1970’s when I was a teenager; a kid learning music who stumbled into the store with a head full of electronics knowledge.
So, creating things, art and otherwise, has been with me all of my life.
I am a photographer, but also an engineer, musician, motorcyclist, blogger, husband, and father.
Enjoy the journey with me.
